Good to be back

by Julia on January 8, 2012

I am kind of easing my way back into running without much of a plan, but the plan seems to be making itself. I rather think that if we let go of trying to make things happen then things happen of their own accord.

I have discovered that I have sometimes tried to go down a route I thought I ‘wanted’ and have found it doesn’t want me! And likewise have sometimes found that however much I resist something, or I am not even that bothered about – it happens anyway – with positive results.

I have a sense that if we manifest from our true soul energy, rather than from our head and what we think we want, and if we listen to our heart and to our true self, then whatever we create will be in alignment with our soul path and our destiny. It flows more easily, and happiness, which really is our natural state and our birthright, becomes a more usual state of affairs.

So, I had no intention particularly this week of ‘getting going’ again with the miles quite so much as I have! But they have almost run themselves…

Fi and I were running along the seafront in the dark on Monday morning and she was talking about having entered the London marathon and needing to put in the miles. ‘I’ll run some miles with you Fi, if you want’ I volunteered ‘I’m back now’! This was evident in that it was 7am, still dark, and rather cold and windy, and we were running along the seafront again as if we’d never broken stride.

‘I always knew you’d be back’ said Fi ‘And I think you’ll come back stronger’! I love her enthusiasm for her, soon to be 53 years old, running friend! But actually I think she is right – time will of course tell!

And so this  Sunday afternoon I have been recovering and ‘re fuelling’ with cake following an 18 mile run on the downs with Fi, bringing my total miles this week to 56. This starts to approach a ‘proper Julia training week ‘which hasn’t been visited for some months. It does feel good to be back, doing what I love and talking again for hours with Fi!

We saw so many people out running too today, the downs was like a playground. My friend Steph, who has a new puppy has just started to let him off the lead and when she does, she says ‘Go play’. I said to her, ‘We should all do that – we should all play, be let of the lead and told to go play’!

Today the downs was full of grown up people out to play, feeling the joy of the grass underfoot, the sea sparkling below and the vast expanse of the downs stretching before us –yes –  it feels good to be back!

Good to hear your running is going well again.

I think we can learn a lot about how to live from dogs.

Belated Happy New Year
